Dr. Roderick van Roosmalen is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Indigo Rock Marine Research Centre (IRMRC). He holds a PhD in Biosystems and Food Engineering, with a background in microbial biotechnology in particular metabolic engineering.

Roderick's research focuses on advancing the circular bioeconomy through the sustainable utilization of seaweeds as feedstocks for the production of high-value bioproducts, including bioplastics and biochemicals. He is passionate about developing innovative bioprocesses that support the transition to a more sustainable and resource-efficient bio-based economy.

Within the AIMBio project, Roderick leads Task 2 and serves as Chair of the Project Technical Committee, contributing to the strategic and technical direction of the project. In addition to his research activities, he has extensive experience in proposal development, project management, technical reporting, and budget oversight, supporting the successful delivery of multidisciplinary research and innovation programmes.

Priya Pollard is a Researcher at the Indigo Rock Marine Research Centre (IRMRC), with expertise in phycology, algal biotechnology, seaweed cultivation and processing, circular blue bioeconomy systems, seaweed preservation through ensiling, GIS, remote sensing, and freshwater and marine benthic ecology.

Her current research focuses on cultivating filamentous algae within Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) systems, with particular interest in their use for the bioremediation of fish-farm effluents, biorefinery and biomass valorisation, and the development of more sustainable, circular aquaculture practices. Within the Circular IMTA project, Priya leads Task 3 and contributes to project dissemination and stakeholder engagement. Her work integrates algal biology and ecology with biomass characterisation and spatial analysis to evaluate suitable algal species and their potential for environmental remediation, resource recovery, and biorefinery valorisation. She also coordinates the recruitment and supervision of interns at IRMRC, supporting knowledge exchange, training, and the development of emerging marine and environmental researchers.

Veronica Paadin Rogero is a Research Assistant at the Indigo Rock Marine Research Centre (IRMRC), with expertise in commercial algae cultivation, aquaculture management, and clinical and biomedical diagnostics and analysis.

Her current activities focuses on the commercial cultivation of macroalgae, particularly Asparagopsis armata, within Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) and Recirculating Aquaculture Systems (RAS). Veronica contributes to the development and optimisation of sustainable algae production systems, applying her expertise to the DEMO-scale cultivation of freshwater algae in IMTA environments. Her work supports the bioremediation of trout farm effluents, helping to enhance environmental sustainability and resource efficiency in aquaculture operations.
